Cupcake Cake Filled With Chocolate Pudding

For those of you who missed the first couple posts, my friend Michelle and I are taking Wilton's Decorating Basics Class at JoAnn Fabrics. This was our second week. Check out what we did this time!

Two hours is not long enough for cake class. I felt quite rushed the whole time. Despite the time restraint, I've learned more this week to add to last week's knowledge, so that's a plus. We worked with new tips (3, 12 & 18) and learned how to make a transfer using piping gel.

I wish I would have had more time to perfect the smoothness of the white frosting. To smooth the frosting, we laid a piece of parchment paper over the frosting (after it had "crusted"), then ran our fingers gently over the paper. But, as you can see, mine could have used a little more TLC.

Not perfect, a little roll-y/buldge-y.

I also would have taken my time and done a better job on the border. I didn't have enough of one color (pink or green) to do a one color border all the way around so I mixed it up, as seem above. I had less pink, so more greens stars had to fill in. Oh well, still tastes good!

I love this whimsical cupcake design!

This was way fun to make, especially frosting the frosting of the cupcake. I love how full, fluffy and yummy it looks. Our instructor was nice enough to give us the over-sized sprinkles. Adds the perfect finishing touch!

To see another rendition of this cake, check out Michelle's. Her frosting colors were more pastel and matched the over-sized sprinkles better. And she made a chocolate cake, so who could resist, right?

Anyone want a piece?
